The Effects of Trauma Do Not Have to Last a Lifetime

PTSD

Advancing PTSD Research with AI

The PTSD is affecting some 8 million adults at some point in their lifetime in the United States. Chronic stress accelerates the biological clock: Patients with PTSD age faster. However, PTSD patients can reduce the effects by strengthening their emotion regulation and self-control. PTSD increases the risk of heart disease, addiction, and mood disorders.

It is not clear why only some people who experience a traumatic event develop PTSD. In recent years, genetic risk factors were associated with occurrence of PTSD. According to scientists from University of California San Diego School of Medicine, genetics accounts for between 5% and 20%of the variability in PTSD risk following a traumatic event.

We want to connect the genetic data with known potential PTSD drug targets and data from clinical treatment trials and identify with our AI drug repurposing algorithms medicines and drugs in clinical development which might be helpful in treating patients with PTSD.
